the control of the mui tsai evil, and that at present evasion
and concealment are inevitable. The Anti Mui Tsai Society
in Hong Kong has urged the same point on the same grounds.
We were glad to know from the Colonial Office letter
of the 23rd June last that the Governor has expressed himself
convinced of the need for more regular inspection. Our
Committee is of opinion that this is a point of great
importance. It has been noted with satisfaction that offers
of a further Inspector or Inspectorsby the Children's Protection
Society have been welcomed by the Secretary for Chinese Affairs.
